Self Portrait
I painted this self portrait during the height of the pandemic. The mountain in the background represents Mt. Hood which is the mountain that I ski. Skiing was one of the only activities I could do during the lockdowns, and I am beyond grateful that I could get out of my house and onto the mountain away from the chaos. I enjoy creating art based on the natural world around me, and integrating the mountain into the painting was a way to do that.

Portals
Portals and planes—day and dark. While organically painted, I like the graphic feeling of the angles and planes. I like to explore the idea of portals and windows to other experiences.

BRIDGETOWN
Painted over my junior year for my yearlong IB Art process portfolio. The bridges represent my exploration by foot and bike around my city as it was slowly opening back up from the pandemic. The city still felt empty and the bridge structures felt lonely – inactive. People were still working from home. It was so quiet and I wanted to capture that eerie peacefulness after the worst of covid. The monochrome palettes support the empty stillness.

Downtown
Painted during my senior year for my IB Art process portfolio. My overall goal with this series was to take something extremely inhuman, buildings in downtown Portland, and add a human aspect to them. The entire purpose of these buildings is to be used by people, but they generally are constructed and designed in a very unapproachable and inhuman way. They are often based around cold glass and metal or stone, without any imperfections. I mostly incorporated this theme through tactile imperfections, as well as the vibrancy in the color palettes and abstraction of the skies.
